About

Bria is currently residing and creating within Halifax, Nova Scotia. A self-identifying Queer, mixed- race visual artist, who was born and raised in the small town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Her current artistic focus is making financially accessible and portable art (stickers/murals/illustrating/crafts/screen-printing) and learning new mediums. Creating art has allowed Bria to  express herself without constraint,  as well as explore and honestly assess the way that she lives, heals, and connects with others.

She is currently working to create more intentional resources and spaces that support racialized and queer artists to thrive within Halifax. She is now employed under YAC (Youth Art Connection) as their Community Facilitator and is also an intern with the graphic recording company Brave Space.

Bria aims to  celebrate her own and others’ intersecting identities and shed awareness on  existing social inequalities and injustices with her art. #BlackLivesMatter, liberation, emotional vulnerability, and mental health are common themes in her work.  Her sense of humour combined with her love of cartoons and  general absurdity in the world fosters an imagination that creates art that is also funny, nostalgic, and playful.
